Shades of Green!

Shades of Green!

September 22, 2010  |  Travel

So I took a lot of pictures in Ireland. Not to many of people but mostly of the countryside. I doubt I need to tell you that it has much to offer to the human eye. It was beautiful and it portrayed so many shades of green. As many of you know my Mother and Father came to meet me for the last week of the trip. Ryan and Michael had left and there I was on my own for a few days waiting for them. Now that I had some personal time I took advantage of it and got the camera out again as I was having trouble being creative prior to this. Unfortunately I didn’t get my best photos in Dublin but those two days allowed me time to re-focus on getting creative and opening my mind a little more. On other parts of the trip I never had the time to think about how I wanted to capture an image because we were always moving so quickly. I felt my aspirations for photography re-energize again and it was nice.

My mother and I had always talked about traveling Ireland together as that is where much of my family heritage comes from. We dedicated the last week to traveling to the countryside and visiting the hometown of my distant relatives – my great grandparents. I was fortunate enough (thanks to my Mom & Dad) to be able to see where they lived (Abbey Leix) and where they were buried. They were right next to a beautiful Catholic church on Irish countryside. For the majority of the time we spent our time on the Wicklow Coast, which is on the eastern side of Ireland. I haven’t seen to many places so beautiful in my life. We shacked up in a small guesthouse in the town of Avoca, which was centrally located in county Leix. From there were able to travel the coast, see the Irish Monk monastery called Glendalough and visit Abbey Leix, all amongst many other small towns.

Below are some pictures I captured from that week. If you hold the cursor on the image it will give you a brief description of where we were or what I was trying to capture. I hope you enjoy them. As always please continue to keep your eyes peeled on our website. Ryan and I both are not yet done sharing our experiences with you. We hope this page continues to inspire people even though we have returned home. I know we are still inspired from all we have learned and experienced. Stay tuned and always remember:

“Travel comes from some deep urge to see the world, like the urge that brings up a worm in an Irish bog to see the moon when it is full”. ~Lord Dunsany
