So many of you may be wondering what is “No Step…No Story” and where did it come from? Well, a few months back when Koye, Jamie and I were planning this trip, I was struggling with the reasons I was going to such great lengths to try accomplish all this.
I was attending my church, Pathways Uptown, and its Pastor, Gil Jones, was delivering a series called the ‘Bucket List’. It was a series about pursuing and finding God’s will for us. He went on to explain, that so many of us live by this myth that the only way to know God’s will is to wait until he opens up a straight, clear and painless path for us to follow to the end result. Have you heard someone say something like “Don’t worry God will open a door for you”? You see, Gil explained, that is not the way God meant for us to operate. We cannot just sit around waiting for a clear sign or ‘door’ to appear or open. If there is not an obvious open door or window, we need to put a helmet on and crash through the wall!! Pursuing God’s will is not like sitting a red light waiting for it to turn green, rather it is blazing through green lights waiting for a red one! YOU GO UNTIL YOU GET A NO. We need to have an urgency to fulfill God’s purpose for our lives. NO STEP…NO STORY.
To get to the end of your life and find out it really didn’t matter is tragic. Life is all about purpose, right? I don’t know of anything more life giving than having a purpose. If you don’t live on purpose it won’t take much to tip us over. We can’t sit around anymore just waiting for our purpose to smack us in the face one day….we need to passionately pursue it until we fulfill it.
So….get a bucket list..and live on purpose.
